This past week former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, endorsed Brian Bilbray in the Congressional race for the 50th district of California. As many of you already know, Brian Bilbray is a partner of mine on the radio show and a regular contributor to The VIP Room here on this blog site. My congratulations to Brian!
This is no doubt very good news for Brian as Gingrich continues carry a lot of sway among supporters of the republican party and within the party itself. I happen to know firsthand that Brian is HIGHLY APPRECIATIVE of Newt's support , and that the announcement has had an energizing effect on Brian (not that one was in need!).
As energizing as the news is for Brian, one can only speculate that it must be equally demoralizing for his opponents...
...-It's sort of like being in the early stages of getting to know a beautiful woman, and then finding out that the former love of her life has moved back to town and is avaiallabe again. However the game ultimately plays out, you know the news now isn't good.-
As many of you may be aware, Newt Gingrich himself is rumored to be taking a serious look at running for President in the next presidential campaign. I'll keep you posted on what I hear.
Once again , congratulations to Brian and 'click' the link below to read the full press release. ~ Rick

SPEAKER NEWT GINGRICH ENDORSES
BRIAN BILBRAY FOR CONGRESS
SAN DIEGO, CA – The Speaker of the House of Representatives (1995-1999), the Honorable Newt Gingrich, officially endorsed Brian Bilbray’s candidacy for the 50th Congressional District today. “When Brian Bilbray left Congress in 2001, we had a balanced budget,” said Gingrich. “Since that time Congress has gone on a reckless spending spree that cannot continue without imperiling our nation's future. That's why we need Brian Bilbray back in Congress,” he continued.
Speaker Gingrich highlighted Bilbray’s credentials as a proven fiscal conservative, “Brian joined me in signing the Contract with America and fought against higher taxes, government growth and wasteful spending,” he said. “Together, we created a $155 billion surplus and presided over one of the largest expansions in economic wealth in history,” Gingrich continued.
Emphasizing the need to strengthen and secure our borders Speaker Gingrich added, “The 50th Congressional District neighbors the busiest border in the world. With constant breakthroughs being made in science and technology, the world is getting smarter and our enemies are working together. Brian Bilbray understands the connection between controlling illegal immigration and strengthening border security to enhance our national security,” said Gingrich.
Brian Bilbray was a member of the historic Republican class of 1995 that took control of the House for the first time in 50 years. “I went to Congress in ’95 to fight the tax and spend liberals” Bilbray said. “Now, I want to go back to finish what I started and to fight for fiscal discipline, more border security and to stop illegal immigration,” he continued.
“No one can question the conservative credentials of Speaker Gingrich,” Bilbray said. “I look forward to working with him on a new 21st Century Contract with America.”
The endorsement of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives is the latest in a number of high profile endorsements announced by the Bilbray for Congress campaign. Former California Attorney General and Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA), San Diego County Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA), San Diego County Sheriff Bill Kolender and San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis have all endorsed Brian Bilbray for Congress.

I think it is absolutely outrageous that you are on Christian radio with Brian Bilbray, one of the most vociferous supporters of abortion and gay rights in the Republican Party. I am going to make sure that my readers are made aware that this very anti-christian individual has connections to a program on a local Christian radio station that is supported by many churches. Mr. Bilbray is listed on the national advisory board of the homosexual group Log Cabin Republicans, he voted against a federal ban on gay adoptions in Washington DC while in congress and he repeatedly supported funding for abortion in the federal budget. What hypocrisy on your part. What a blow to KCBQ! Simply unbelievable!
